Kingdoms of Acania is...
Challenging.
There
are many strategies that may potentially lead to victory, and dozens
of crucial choices to be made each turn along the way. For example,
while any player can win by the standard victory condition, each
kingdom also has a unique secret victory condition that influences
many decisions players make in ways unexpected by the others. Combine
these factors with the unique characteristics of each of the kingdoms
in the game and likewise those of the players managing them, and
it’s easy to see that every game is unpredictable and distinctive.
The same strategic choices that led to victory in one case may well
meet with failure in the next due to the dynamics of both players
and kingdoms. Within each campaign, players must adapt to an ever-changing
balance of power and take advantages of opportunities as they emerge,
for if they don’t, their opponents surely will. By the way,
these opponents are likely to be adults with careers in a variety
of professions, rather than the adolescent market that dominates
many other online games.
Entertaining.
Have you ever played a game where the outcome of a battle is told
in three pages of descriptive, informative full paragraphs where
every sentence creates imagery and provides feedback as to how your
warriors, tactics, wizards, and commanders performed against the
forces and tactics of your opponent? You learn clearly what went
right and what didn’t, rather than just see some pixels in
the shape of a goblin fizzle out as in most games. The same is true
for every other important element of the game: the results are fully
described in sentences and graphically, rather than relayed as a
series of numbers. All the nobles, heroes, wizards, fanatics, agents,
cities, towns, villages, regions, and artifacts are each individually
named, have far ranging capabilities, and are themselves unique.
You will be tantalized by the intriguing situations that emerge
each turn and your myriad options as to how to address them. It’s
easy to communicate and negotiate with the other kings in the game
through each game’s private message board. There’s lots
to do, but it’s all good. The game system and server handle
routine matters that don’t add enjoyment to the experience,
so players don’t have to deal with resource collection, assigning
workers, and moving supplies around that so many other games make
a staple of their game play. And while making your decisions as
to what actions to take each turn will challenge you, the graphic
user interface is a joy to use and makes issuing your commands a
snap. As to atmosphere, it goes without saying we are delighted
to feature the fantastic illustrations of legendary artists Frank
Frazetta and Brom. Their art is used with permission and we are
honored to display it.
Fair.
Strange that it is a rarity today to find a game where all players
start the game at the beginning, each player gets an equal number
of turns (one per week), and all turns are processed simultaneously.
Players cannot buy “power-ups” from the company, or
magic armor from E-Bay. These deliberate design choices that provide
fairness are shunned by other companies as they tend to reduce revenues.
Kingdoms of Arcania features a graphic user interface, rare in online
strategy, that minimizes player error and adds to enjoyment. The
game is browser based, meaning you can keep up with your campaign
at home, office, or on the road, anywhere you have an internet connection.
Although each kingdom in the game is unique and differentiated by
more than fifty factors rather than a few, results have proven that
each kingdom has an equal chance at victory at the onset. It is
player actions and reactions to unfolding events, rather than the
dominance of a particular kingdom, that determines victory. We are
looking for customers who are discriminating and appreciate the
quality of experience they enjoy with Kingdoms of Arcania, and we
hope that quality and fairness keeps them happy and loyal for years
to come.

Kingdoms of Arcania is a brand new game but based on award winning
designer Rick McDowell’s earlier design Alamaze, that was
recipient of numerous awards, including Game of the Year
by both Origins and GenCon, the two largest gaming conventions.
Alamaze has been enjoyed by thousands of very loyal fans for more
than a decade. Yet despite numerous breakthroughs like the graphic
user interface, Kingdoms of Arcania will be offered for substantially
less, incredibly only $3.50 per turn. So for about the cost of a
weekly video rental or less, you can enjoy this one-of-a-kind strategy
experience. The hard part has been finding us. Now that you’re
