| In the first hour of morning Warlord Bladeheart ordered the
Rammanor Army Group Invincible to execute the attack on the
advancing lines of the Black Dragon Full Army Vor led by Marshal
Khojah, flying low over the horizon. Among the Black Dragon
legions were brigades of Wingbeasts, which now swept to the
front lines! As the attackers swept over the flat grasslands
the battle began. The Rammanor highly efficient archers imposed
significant losses on their foes. The Black Dragons blasted
poison fumes in their overhead pass, but Rammanor losses were
light. The Rammanor Druid Elir drew still and silently drew
glyphs before him. His incantations would protect the heroes
and wizards of Invincible from any black magic targeting them
by his adversaries. The Black Dragon power-6 Warlock Haznaka
glowered intently and issued indecipherable utterances. With
chilling ease he fired many volleys of minor phantasms and
magical bolts into the heart of the enemy force. Next, Haznaka,
while seemingly detached from all else, seemed to draw within
himself and began to incant. A low rumbling began, which quickly
escalated into a full earthquake, immediately below the main
ranks of the hapless enemy! Substantial losses by the enemy
were felt. The Black Dragon Power-5 Druid Maxeaga began sorcerous
incantations in an unknown tongue. He then directed with great
effect a series of pyrotechnics and spectral images into the
ranks of the enemy. Then, Maxeaga slowly spoke in an arcane
language, gestures building to a crescendo. Looking skyward,
the heavens darkened suddenly with ominous clouds and whipping
down came a terrifying tornado, which wrecked wildly into
the now frantic enemy lines with what seemed devastating results.
The Black Dragon Power-3 Sorcerer Xathos made a series of
intricate gestures. Showing complete focus, he
caused images of dark terror and hopelessness to disturb the
ranks of the enemy. Xathos then bellowed a staccato chant.
He drew power and cast Spectral Doom, seeking to kill the
Warlord Bladeheart. However, this spell was countered by the
Rammanor Druid Elir. Throughout the battle, the powerful Black
Dragon mages added substantially to the defense of their group.
Elevated for the Rammanor troops to see, the Standard of
Valor in Marshal Saros’ possession lifted their spirits.
With a heroic cry, Rammanor Warlord Bladeheart carrying the
Axe of Farin plunged into battle thereby increasing the determination
and endurance of his group and aiding his chance of encountering
the Black Dragon leaders in personal combat.
The Black Dragon legion now settled to the ground to inflict
damage with their teeth, claws, and barbed tails. Quickly
Marshal Saros beckoned the Rammanor exceptional horsemen down
upon the Black Dragon lines. The Rammanor cavalry imposed
significant damage to the Black Dragon ranks. In return the
Black Dragon elite imposed minor losses to the Rammanor lines.
Each force was well suited to the green fields on which the
battle was waged, and the fighting was hard and chaotic.
The Black Dragon force Vor in close fighting claimed minor
damage to the Invincible lines, while the Rammanor infantry
caused noticeable damage to the Black Dragon lines. Though
much blood had been split and the fighting had raged for hours,
still the outcome hung by a thread. Victory had yet to take
sides in this epic struggle: yet more killing hours passed,
and these saw all the weary lines of each side rejoin the
contest in a final, gallant effort to triumph, with all in
the balance.

With higher than expected losses, Marshal Khojah had no
choice but to order the Black Dragon force to withdraw. The
retreat was a credit to the Vor force's discipline, as few
additional losses were suffered withdrawing. Black Dragon
casualties were said to be 95 Dragons and 260 Wingbeasts.
Black Dragon leaders fought bravely. General Zosh was slain
by the Warlord Bladeheart, aided by the Axe of Farin. Marshal
Khojah suffered light wounds. The Black Dragon wizards Haznaka,
Maxeaga and Xathos survived the fray. The morale of Black
Dragon Legion Vor increased despite retreat, due to the damage
inflicted and the Black Dragon battle tactic “Prey”.
Brigades Lost: 2nd Black Dragon, 3rd Wingbeasts,
5th Wingbeasts, 8th Wingbeasts
Brigades Elevated: 3rd Black Dragon, 6th
Wingbeasts |
Rammanor casualties were said to be 4700 troops. Rammanor
leaders fought courageously. General Kinsi fought with distinction
and won promotion. All Rammanor leaders survived the battle,
although General Kinsi suffered a serious wound. Their Champion,
Warlord Bladeheart, slew a Black Dragon general in personal
combat. The Rammanor Druid Elir survived the engagement. The
indisputable nature of the Rammanor Legion’s victory
has notably increased morale.
